Welcome to fromorbit.com. I’m Alan, an engineer and programmer who prefers the high-level perspective; but only after I’ve mastered the low-level. Or at least I try to.

I enjoy building electronics, HAM radios, and test gear. I love writing code in whatever language tickles me, and I thrive on making things move and do things they probably weren’t meant to.

Lately, I’ve been spending time blacksmithing and doing metal work, alongside designing gadgets in CAD to FDM print or CNC machine. If it involves code, microcontrollers, CNC rails, or anything that moves, buzzes, bangs, pops, or burns, you’ll find it here.
